New simulator for Sri Lanka Railways
When we think of Sri Lanka, we see images of paradise beaches, tea plantations and railway lines that cross spectacular natural locations. The great news is that LANDER will have the privilege to know and to simulate some of these amazing places. Our presence in Asia continues to grow and we consolidate ourselves as the key partner for the railway operators in the region.
On the 20th of October 2022, LANDER had the honor to sign the contract for the supply of a new simulation system with the Honorable R.W.R. Premasiri, Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Highways of Sri Lanka. This will be the first railway driving simulator in Sri Lanka and it is a fundamental milestone in the development of a training system of first order.
With the financing of the Asian Development Bank, the government of Sri Lanka is investing to modernize its railway operations. Sri Lanka Railways, the national state-owned operator, will enjoy a cutting-edge driving simulator manufactured by LANDER to give the best possible training to its train drivers. Hand in hand with the client, we will develop a driving simulator that will answer to the specific training needs of Sri Lanka Railways.
The driving simulator will be installed at the Sri Lanka German Railway Technical Training School located in Ratmalana in the outskirts of Colombo. A selection of sceneries of the Sri Lanka railway network and the S14 train manufactured by CRRC will be simulated like in real life. The simulation center will have a replica cabin that will simulate the train’s driving desktop with utmost fidelity. This way, the trainee will feel in the simulator as if he is driving the train in real life. Thanks to this simulator, Sri Lanka Railways will be able to train its drivers in driving in normal and degraded conditions in a completely safe manner.
From LANDER we would like to thank the Ministry of Transport and Highways of Sri Lanka for their trust to execute this project.
