LANDER Truck Simulator in Uruguay: Innovation in Drivers Training
A new state-of-the-art LANDER Truck Simulator arrives in Uruguay to revolutionise the training of truck drivers
Following in the footsteps of the leaders in the passenger transport sector in Uruguay, Mekatronik, part of the CIR Group, have decided to take a leap forwards. They have placed themselves at the forefront of truck driver training with the implementation of a state-of-the-art truck simulator, in collaboration with LANDER. This Uruguayan business group is well known as the distributor of Volvo Bus&Trucks in the country.
Motivated by the growing demand in freight transport, especially in key sectors such as cellulose, the purpose of this simulator is the effective training of Volvo truck drivers. These play a vital role in the national logistics landscape.
The simulator, installed at the end of 2023 in a mobile classroom to cover the entire Uruguayan territory, offers an immersive and realistic experience. Allowing drivers to improve their driving skills, handle risky situations and master the on-board safety systems that characterise Volvo trucks.
It has been designed with original Volvo truck components such as the i-Shift gearbox, controls for using Volvo’s on-board safety systems and the signature Volvo steering wheel. In addition, it offers the necessary flexibility to adapt to the specific needs of each user and company that operates Volvo trucks in the country.
Following the example of companies such as CUTCSA in Uruguay, they hope to promote the importance for the country’s transport companies of investing time and resources in training their drivers and adopting innovative technologies to improve the quality of transport. With this project, LANDER and Mekatronik in the CIR Group not only seek to raise the standard of driver training in Uruguay, but also to promote road safety and efficiency in the transport of goods.
