Lander at Middle East Rail Exhibition

In a recent article, we wrote about the take-off in the railway market across the Middle East. Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and more recently Oman start to shape the GCC Rail network aimed to connect the entire region, adding a new way to travel to the already well-developed infrastructure. In addition, most of these countries are starting to enjoy metro and tram systems worth paying attention to, a couple of them already in operation.

All this transport capabilities, especially those in the Emirates, have been shown during the Middle East Rail Exhibition held yearly in Dubai, 17th and 18th of March this year.

During the exhibition, important manufacturers, as well as local entities such as Etihad Rail and the Federal Transport Authority, have gathered to continue defining the development of the country transportation network. In the words of Dr. Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority, “The UAE is innovating to become a global leader in transportation projects and position itself as a global logistics hub”. This innovation implies staying up to date with the last developments in rolling stock, signalling, security and training. Dr. Al Nuaimi expectations point to “building a world class industry and showcasing our developments at Expo 2020”, year when the International Exhibition will travel to the city.

For the time being, Etihad Rail is little by little unveiling the 2nd phase of the GCC Rail Network section in the UAE, new metros and trams are planned for the near future and the rail infrastructure continues its trip to meet with Dr. Al Nuaimi expectations of becoming a world-class reference.

At LANDER, we will stay attentive to the future of the country and make an effort to help the region be also leader in global passenger and driver security.
