Full immersion at Changi Airport with ITE College’s airport simulators
Four years after launching the Work-Study Diploma (WSDip) programme in Airport Operations, our customer ITE College continues to expand in the aviation sector with the launch of a state-of-the-art Airport Operations Simulation Training Centre (AOSTC).
This new simulation centre project, developed with our Singapore-based partner Precision Technologies (http://www.pretech.com.sg/), and opened in April, uses Lander simulators to teach future runway workers how to do their job without having to spend time in an airport. The driving simulator is used during the course to familiarise students with the Changi Airport terminals where the real-life scenario created by Lander provides an immersive driving experience and exposes students to real driving conditions on the runways, taxiways and aprons.
Airport ground operations are very complex, with many different facets and involving different personnel, from runway agents and signallers etc. to the catering or maintenance companies that pass through the airport facilities. ITE College has planned and designed its training centre to simulate real work situations that provide its students with a better understanding of the skills required and prepare them adequately for their jobs.
The Lander simulator is currently being used for this new diploma which allows ITE College students to work with companies operating at Changi Airport while continuing their studies. This helps facilitate their learning process when they enter the job market.
In addition, ITE College collaborates very closely with a wide range of companies in order to understand their requirements and identify market trends, anticipating requirements in order to provide skilled professionals suitable for the new business challenges. ITE also has partnerships with leading players in the field such as Changi, Singapore Airlines, dNATA, Scoot and others.
This successful project in the airport sector is a new milestone for Lander, which continues to focus on diversifying its automotive products and increasing its presence on the Asian continent.
