FGC continues to upgrade its driving simulators
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) recently upgraded the software of its simulators. The update confirms FGC's interest in continued investment in training its drivers. They can use the virtual environment of simulators for training in exactly the same situations they come up against in their day-to-day operations.
The FGC Training Centre, with three rail simulators developed by LANDER in 2013, is in the Rubí Operations Centre (COR). The simulators were acquired along with purchase of the UT113 series. Since then hundreds of drivers have undertaken simulation courses for initial training or refresher courses on operation of the Barcelona-Vallés line (S1, S2, L6 and L7), with excellent results producing a better service for passengers in the city of Barcelona and towns with links to it.
The new upgrade of the driving simulators will provide FGC with the latest changes made to the infrastructure and line signalling, such as: Plaça Catalunya, Sarriá Station and Terrasa-Sabadell Extensions, and a number of functional improvements made to the UT113.
LANDER wishes to thank FGC for the trust it continues to place in us, and for its insistence that simulator training should be a faithful reflection of real operations. It is important for simulators to evolve alongside our customers, for the high expectations of simulation to be maintained as the years go by, and thus for simulators to offer future scalability so that they will never become obsolete.
Finally, we wish to thank Mr. Santiago Conde, Head of Training at FGC, for all the years of hard work training drivers, and congratulate him on his success. We wish him a happy, relaxed new chapter in his life. Thanks a lot, Santi!
