Colombian Army trained in safety awareness when transporting army personnel
The Department for the Protection of the Integrity and Security of the Colombian Army (DIPSE) envisions an army that upholds high out-of-combat safety standards and a clear and well-defined strategy for reducing casualties of armed personnel. With this goal in mind, a training programme for army personnel was rolled out in mid-December of last year, teaching them good motorcycle practices through a simulator developed by LANDER.
According to figures provided by the DIPSE, in 2015 alone the Army reported 43 deaths and 372 injuries resulting from motorcycle accidents in the course of duty and when on private leave. The Army now plans to use the LANDER simulator to buck the trend by reducing road accidents and championing better practices, behaviour and safety habits on the road.
The simulator is installed on board a mobile vehicle that visits all the units of the Army in order to certify each of its motorcyclists. The simulator has been in use for the last six months and during that time it has helped the Colombian Army train and certify 300 members, including commissioned,non-commissioned officers and professional soldiers, all official motorcyclists within the National Army.
We at LANDER are proud to be part of this initiative and to help the Colombian Army serve its country and people with all possible safeguards in place.
