Why is it so important to show solidarity?
Lending a hand, providing support, making someone smile, and fostering well-being; acts of solidarity have these aims, as well as many others.
Rather than constantly repeating our frustrations, tragic events, or situations that may frighten us at any given moment, it seems more important to focus on the small acts of kindness, courage, and love that happen around us every day and attest to our current society’s degree of solidarity.
Clearly, solidarity can come from and benefit anyone, including our family, friends, neighbours, and even strangers with few resources or those at risk of vulnerability. However, we should note that beyond an individual’s efforts, companies can also provide a helping hand. There are an ever increasing number of companies that are focusing on environmental issues and improving their impact on society.
As a company, LANDER isn’t one to advertise its acts of solidarity, but this time we have taken the liberty to highlight the work of a foundation that we have collaborated with for years. Why Not works to improve quality of life for individuals with mental disorders and illnesses, and provide their family members with the support they need.
This foundation has been working since 2010 to humanise an illness that has certainly been stigmatised by society. With the help of volunteers that dedicate their time and effort to this cause free of charge, Why Not uses each project and activity to help these individuals find motivation and the hope often lost to their symptoms, treatments, hospitalisations, and relapses.
Through five lines of action, the foundation works to improve individual quality of life with countless activities including publishing a magazine, holding emotional intelligence workshops, sharing lessons learned, participating in radio chats, and encouraging physical activity with Nordic walking, gym time, relaxation, and yoga. For some time now, they have even been visiting our driving simulators to share an enjoyable moment together learning what we do, while also learning from them.
We at LANDER would like to extend our most heart-felt congratulations to the members of the Why Not team that are out there making the world a better place for us all.
