LANDER supports training centres of the NSC, the leading training organisation for defensive driving training

“With the best ideas, the right tools, and everyone's involvement, no safety challenge will be too great for us to overcome, from the workplace to everywhere else.” This is how Lorraine Martin, President and CEO of the National Safety Council, describes the ethos with which America's leading workplace safety company works to serve companies around the world.

Chrysler, Ericsson, Ford Motor Co., General Electric, Hewlett-Packard, Kellogg Company, Unilever, Petroleum Development Oman, among others, are some of the high-profile international companies that rely on the NSC to improve safety.

Founded in 1913, the National Safety Council is a pioneering non-profit organisation that works on three fundamental pillars with the aim of eliminating the possible causes of accidents and deaths in the workplace: health and safety at work (HSE), defensive driving, and first aid.

The NSC trains more than 3.5 million people each year, has over 10,000 certified instructors worldwide, hosts the world's largest annual workplace safety congress and, among many other things, issues certificates upon the completion of its training courses. These certificates are recognised worldwide as representing the highest standards in occupational health and safety.

Within the field of professional driver training, the NSC is globally recognised as a pioneer in defensive driving. The certificates it issues are based on theoretical training content derived from in-depth research in this field. These certifications are aimed at both light vehicles and motorbikes through the Defensive Driving Course (DDC), as well as at drivers of heavy goods vehicles through the dedicated Professional Truck Driver (PTD) course.

More and more companies with professional drivers rely on this training and accreditation. And it so happens that many of these companies not only opt for NSC certification, but also decide to complement this training with high-performance driving simulators for practical training and to improve the driver's skills. This is true of companies such as CECAPTA (training centre in Querétaro, Mexico), Cargando Innova in Colombia, or the cement company Cementos Progreso in Guatemala, all of which have become NSC-accredited centres and which in turn have robust LANDER simulation equipment for the driving of heavy vehicles.

With this mix of theoretical training and a driving simulator, there's no doubt that companies with large vehicle fleets and professional drivers can be sure that they're doing all they can to make Lorraine Martin's comments a reality.

For LANDER, being able to support our clients on this journey is undoubtedly a daily incentive to continue our efforts to ensure that our simulators achieve this important goal.
