LANDER driving simulators will also find their place in Indonesia

Famous for the beauty of a total of more than 17,000 islands that make up the country, including the well-known Bali, Lombok, Flores and Komodo, Indonesia has also shown that, as well as being a country famous for its idyllic landscapes, it is firmly committed to improving urban mobility and modernising its transport infrastructure.

Within this line of progress, the new LRT operator for the Jakarta metropolitan area has recently made the decision to acquire advanced simulation equipment for the training of its drivers from the local technology company Multiintegra and LANDER SIMULATION.

Jakarta has traditionally been a city with a reputation for severe traffic congestion problems caused by the lack of adequate infrastructure to serve a population of more than 30 million people living in the metropolitan area. LRT Jabodebek expects to enter into operation in 2022 and aims to facilitate access to the capital from adjacent cities that make up this metropolitan area: Bogor, Depok and Bekasi. It will also decongest the traffic in the city and its access routes. To achieve this, the operation will initially have 3 elevated lines that will converge at Cawang central station, facilitating the mobility of passengers around the city. Looking to the future, a second stage is already planned in which the lines will be extended, eventually linking the city with the Soekarno-Hatta airport.

The project has become a national priority and is part of the government’s response to the population’s demands for safe, comfortable, and punctual public transportation. And it is precisely with safety and punctuality in mind that, not wanting to leave anything to chance, the LRT Jabodebek operator, PT KAI, has decided to provide a training centre with simulators with the latest technology applied to training. This high-capacity centre will have 12 training stations where drivers will be able to receive training driving in conditions identical to those they will encounter in the real world: the 3 lines in operation and their signalling will be simulated, along with the rolling stock supplied by PT Inka and its main systems.
