Analysis of human behaviour through motorcycle simulators in Italy
The University of Padua, one of the most prestigious Italian universities, has recently commissioned LANDER to develop a motorcycle driving simulator.
The university, founded in 1222 and one of the oldest in the world, is internationally recognised for conducting specialist research, mainly in the fields of medicine, astronomy, philosophy, law and psychology. The request for the development of the simulation equipment has come from this last area, headed by the university’s Department of General Psychology.
This department has already spent more than 20 years researching traditional areas of perception, animal behaviour, psycholinguistics, psychophysics and clinical psychology, among other fields, as well as new areas of research on cognitive processes, neuropsychology and neuroscience. Now, thanks to the incorporation of the latest technology in simulators, they will be able to take their research on human factors one step further.
The motorcycle simulator that they will develop in conjunction with LANDER, in addition to offering a realistic riding environment, will be adapted to the research techniques designed by the university, so that, for example, they will be able to provide the rider with numerous visual and auditory stimuli during simulation in order to study their behaviour. In addition, the simulator will communicate with the university’s human behaviour measurement technologies, allowing researchers to conduct exhaustive analyses of the human psyche in multiple driving situations.
We are grateful to the university for the trust placed in LANDER. This project will undoubtedly allow us to continue look at the needs of the academic environment around the world in greater depth. It is a field in which LANDER already has experience, in projects such as the motorcycle simulator for the Vietnamese-German University (VGU).
