CPTM Brazil and LANDER, 10 years of partnership

CPTM, Companhia Paulista of Metropolitan Trens in Brazil, public operator in the State of São Paulo, transports 2 million people daily. The company performs the vital function of connecting 22 municipalities in the State of São Paulo to ensure that activity is not limited to the capital, São Paulo, the main financial centre in Brazil and one of the largest cities in the Americas by population, only beaten by New York and Mexico City.

In this demanding environment, investing 100% of its efforts in training its drivers is a clear objective for CPTM. Since 2008, the company has been committed to using the latest training simulator technology to guarantee rail safety and save on operating costs. In 2018, they have once again demonstrated their firm commitment to a new investment in simulators and LANDER has had the pleasure of supplying CPTM with a new training centre.

The project has consisted of 2 Multipurpose Training Posts, 1 Instructor Post and 1 Observation Post, which have been installed at Suzano Station and which are in addition to the centralised simulator network that CPTM already had.

With this last instalment, there are now 5 Training Classrooms with simulators that CPTM has distributed throughout the State of São Paulo and 10 multi-purpose simulators that make up those 5 classrooms. In these, drivers can practice the normal and degraded operation of the 13 different train series that travel along the 7 lines that CPTM has at present, covering around 200 km of track.

Approximately 1,200 CPTM drivers are currently trained in LANDER simulators each year. They practice all kinds of situations, both normal and abnormal, and learn how to deal with them, so the company considers simulators a critical resource for the training of its drivers.

It is now 10 years since LANDER started operating in Brazil and we have been winning new projects that have allowed us to grow in the country, such as Via Quatro, BR Mobilidade (VLT Santos) in rail and Fetranspor in the automotive sector. However, without a doubt the great success for us is that all these companies become our partners and that they continue their growth hand in hand with LANDER over the years.
