LANDER erhält durch SETRAM Zugang zum afrikanischen Kontinent
Most of Algeria is occupied by the Sahara Desert, and the country is divided by a double mountain range that runs in an east-west direction. Algeria is the largest country on the African continent.
With more than 40 million inhabitants, it covers 2.3 million square kilometers (almost five times larger than Spain). Despite its enormous size, it may be one of the least known countries on the African continent, especially compared to its neighbors Morocco and Tunisia, which are well known beyond their borders.
This country has many special features. It is, for example, one of the countries with the most young people in the world; in it is the largest mosque in Africa; and its capital, Algiers, is also known as "the white one" because almost all of its buildings are painted in this color. As far as local public transport is concerned, Algeria may also be one of the few countries in which tram systems operate in seven different cities in the country (Algiers, Oran, Constantina, Sidi Bel Abbès, Ouargla, Mostaganem and Sétif). The massive reintroduction of the tram in Algeria was similar to the movement in France over the past 30 years. The problems of constant traffic congestion has led large cities with a particularly dynamic demography to
This major step towards improving infrastructure is mainly due to SETRAM, an organism born out of an agreement between the Argel Metro Company (EMA) and the French RATP Dev group of companies, which today operates Algerian trams. The group was able to launch a new, modern era of the country's quality of life and economic development in record time.
Today, just 8 years after the launch of the first tram system, SETRAM opens its innovative simulation center for the training of tram drivers, which was developed in cooperation with LANDER. A special feature is that the systems are equipped with software that supports all seven operations with the respective signaling and trams.
This important milestone was celebrated last week under the chairmanship of SETRAM President and CEO, Pierrick Poirier. Mr. Mustapha KOURABA, Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Abdelkhalek Sayouda, Governor of ALGIER, and Mr. Ali AREZKI, President and CEO of EMA, were also present at the official commission of the Driving Simulator Training School. The acquisition of the facility is part of the effort RATP Dev has made in recent years to contribute to local development. More than 2,000 people were recruited, trained and given their technical knowledge and experience. a. in the Institute for Railway Training in Algiers, opened in 2017,
LANDER congratulates SETRAM on its ongoing efforts to improve mobility in this country and thanks the company for its confidence in LANDER as a technology partner to achieve these ambitious goals.
